I Wanted to Learn How to Sell My Art… and Found Nothing but Bad Advice

I like making art.

It’s fun and challenging and there is always something new and interesting to learn. But it wasn’t enough for me.

I wanted to learn the business side of art. Don’t get me wrong, I loved creating art too, but somehow it was the business side of art that was a lot more interesting to me. So I did what anyone does when they are first trying to learn something new – I went to YouTube.

Well, that went about as well as you could expect.

My search to learn more about the business of art didn’t improve from there. I took a lot of art classes that promised they would talk about how to turn art into a career that I would love, but at best there was just a basic module tacked on to the end of a course. At worse it was all about having the right “mindset” and advice about how I need to spend more time than I want building an audience.

Now, if there is one thing I’m bad at, it’s waiting around for answers, so I looked for what I wanted elsewhere.

Hi, I’m Kelly—an artist and illustrator who helps solopreneurs and creative entrepreneurs get unstuck when they know they’re capable of more but can’t figure out how to get there. I’ve been on the inside of Stacie’s program for years, and her advice is the best I’ve seen for creators. As a bonus, if you join through my link, you’ll get a 60-minute group coaching call with me: the 10-Day Momentum Map.

“Just Post. A lot. More than that. Keep going, your audience will find you.”

There was a lot of bad advice out there about how to build an art career, but I was struggling to find anything that looked like I could follow it like a plan. So, I gave up looking for that advice from artists.

Instead, I searched around in other types of businesses. I got information that was very useful from a lot of different entrepreneurs, who were able to prove they know what they were talking about because they had the success and the numbers to back it up.

But that left me with another problem.

There is a lot of great advice out there but not all of that applies to a career as an artist. There are some parallels, but when it comes down to questions of “how do I price my prints” or “how do I search out people to pitch my portfolio to?” they weren’t going to be able to help. And they certainly couldn’t help when it came to any of the legal questions I had about how to protect my work or set up my business as an artist.

That’s why when I heard that Stacie Bloomfield was going to put together her own program about how to build and scale an art career, I was one of the first to sign up.

Stacie is an artist who has done it all. She’s licensed work, had a brick-and-mortar shop as well as an online one, worked with manufacturers of her products, and taught courses. I jumped at the chance to be a founding member with her because she had the experience I looked for and was ready to share what works, and what doesn’t.

Having access to this course was like having a whole library on how to create an art career.

All that info is just the tip of the iceberg though, because having the chance to do the class live and come to the live calls to ask Stacie and the other guests your questions is a huge win. I loved the program the first time I saw it, and I’ve had a front row seat as to how the class has changed over the years.

And this is 100% the best version of this program that there has ever been.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve signed up for plenty of classes in the past only to get overwhelmed pretty early on. Sometimes it’s because there is too much info to go through, but most of the time it’s because I get frustrated that I am not seeing any of the progress or forward momentum I was promised in the pitch.

Stacie has worked to change that this year. She’s working from a framework called MEET/MAKE/MOVE. The idea is that each module has 3 core lessons, and these help you to make real progress in your business by helping you with meeting the right potential clients/buyers, making the kind of art that will set you apart in the industry and be a perfect fit for you and for them, and move your business in a forward motion.

There are plenty of other lessons and interviews in each module, but I love that she is pulling out the three most important so that you can be making progress quickly without getting bogged down.

This program only opens once a year, and doors close on August, 26th. Save your spot now -> Click Here to Save Your Spot Now

When I got asked to promote Leverage Your Art, I jumped at the chance. I really believe in what Stacie is doing. I love her commitment to pulling back the curtain and sharing what she knows with other artists so that we can create the kind of dream career we want.

I also love that she is not another artist promoting that “one, best, right, only dream career”. You know the one. It usually has 6-figures attached and may or may not require a ridiculous amount of hustle to get there.

Stacie knows that every artist has their own idea of what their dream business looks like, and she wants to help you find that.

But here’s the thing—having the dream is only part of it.

There can be a huge gap between “dream career” and “daily reality”. This is the point where most people get stuck. It’s not that they don’t care enough about their dream, or they don’t have big goals, it’s that when you are already juggling a million half-finished projects, it can feel impossible to know what to do next.

That’s where I can help.

If you decide to join Leverage Your Art through my link, you’ll be able to join my 10-Day Momentum Map group coaching call.

In this call, we’ll shape your dream art business and choose one specific 90-day milestone that moves you closer to it. Then I’ll show you how to turn that into a simple 10-day action plan you can actually follow. You’ll walk away with clarity, momentum, and the confidence to stop second-guessing and start moving forward.

But here’s the thing—having the dream is only part of it.

Clarity only matters when it’s translated into action, and my goal is to make sure you walk away with a plan of what your next right step is. I want to help you figure out the next, best step for your goals.

I hope I’ll get to see you inside Leverage Your Art, and of course the coaching call too. I’ve done a lot of searching, and I really do believe this program is the best one out there for creatives who want to build a career that fits their life and lets them make money creating things they love. I don’t feel like I have to rely on luck anymore to make that happen. Stacie is there.
